The Silver Cloud II was introduced in 1959. Although the exterior design changed very little, the model featured a 6.2 L V8 engine which increased the weight to 2.11 tonnes. Performance improved significantly, with a top speed of 114 mph along with better acceleration and torque. Power steering became standard, and electrically operated windows were available as an option.
The basic structure of the Silver Cloud II remained the same from 1959 to 1963, but several minor updates were introduced over the years. These included improvements to the ventilation system. Interior updates in 1961 included blue instrument lighting, a combined indicator and headlamp flasher switch, and a handbrake warning light. In May 1962, a redesigned rear light assembly was introduced, and in August 1962 the car switched to single sealed beam headlamps.

The vehicle appeared in the second series of VROOM VROOM in 2006, where it was driven on a race track by the original Stig from Top Gear.
